What are dentures?

How are dentures made?

The process of creating dentures begins with taking initial impressions of your mouth to create accurate moulds that serve as the foundation for a precise model. From these impressions, wax models are crafted and then tried in the mouth to adjust for fit and appearance.  Once the wax model is approved, the final denture is cast from more durable materials that mimic the look of natural gums and teeth. After the dentures are fabricated, minor adjustments are often necessary to ensure they are comfortable and fit properly. 

What happens during a denture fitting? 

 The denture fitting process is a series of appointments designed to ensure that your new dentures fit comfortably and function effectively. Initially, we will discuss your needs and make preliminary impressions of your jaw and any remaining teeth.  Subsequent visits typically involve trying on a trial denture to assess its fit, colour, and shape, allowing for necessary adjustments. Once the dentures are completed, a final session is conducted to ensure they fit well and feel comfortable in your mouth.
